^[7]The Hanging Temple, Xuan Kong Si, was built by a monk about 1,400 years ago on a steep cliff about 50 miles from Datong City, Shanxi Province. The temple comprises buildings of several stories, yet looks as if it is only propped up by several wooden columns.
